Ron Friedman, MD
After attending the School of Medicine at the University of California at San Francisco and completing my anesthesia residency at Harvard Medical School, I returned to the San Francisco Bay area where I've been an anesthesiologist since 1977. Over the years, I've participated in thousands of major surgeries such as open-heart surgery, and major vascular, cancer, and spine surgery.
As you can imagine, I have seen many ill people during my career, and this has bothered me a great deal. Eventually, I came to the conclusion that our modern healthcare system does a great job of keeping very sick people alive, but has made virtually no progress in preventing disease or promoting health. When I came to that realization, I decided I wanted to do something about - to make a difference and promote health instead of just treating illness.
For the past seven years, I've studied disease prevention and I have researched countless nutritional products and natural alternatives to pharmaceutical drugs. I have found in my studies that nutrition and exercise are important keys to health and vitality. But given the realities of our food production industries and the lack of nutrition therein, it is absolutely necessary to add key health supporting foods and supplements to our diet.
I learned about the phenomenal health-promoting properties of the goji berry from Dr. Earl Mindell, whose books I've been reading for years. I was impressed with the extensive clinical research on the goji berry and the history of medicinal folklore, which is vast and well chronicled.
The clinical results that I've seen with hundreds of people are truly astonishing, and almost everyone who consumes goji juice experiences some noticeable benefits. They cover a wide spectrum of symptomatic and systemic problems. Here are just some of the benefits people have reported to me:
More energy and stamina
Improved quality of sleep
Relief of menopausal symptoms
Relief of restricted urine flow
Improved fitness training
Increased sexual satisfaction
Improved digestion
Relief from dizziness
Relief from headaches
Increased flexibility
Relief from joint pain
More youthful-looking skin and hair
The systemic, or foundational, benefits are equally impressive and, in my view, even more important. These include regulation of sugar and fat metabolism, regulation of blood pressure, and improved immune functioning. I also believe that goji juice could be the key to solving our number one health problem - obesity. Why? Because goji juice is critical to breaking the cycle of carbohydrate addiction and insulin resistance that leads to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic diseases associated with this problem.
I've often been asked how one berry could be good for so many conditions. The answer is simple: the goji berry is the greatest source of health-promoting nutrients for our cells. When we provide proper nutrients to our cells, the body is capable of maintaining perfect health and vitality far beyond what we are accustomed to expect.
I've spent most of my adult life caring for people with serious diseases and seeing first hand the tragic toll disease takes on patients and their families. It is very exciting to think that simple, inexpensive lifestyle changes can eliminate most diseases and allow us to live longer, more vital lives. I consider goji juice the cornerstone of my approach to health and vitality.
